This randomized, double-blind trial enrolled 202 women. After a two-week washout, participants used the assigned products for eight weeks. Products containing 4% niacinamide plus 2% NAG improved measures of facial pigmentation compared with their vehicles.

The publication reports an eight-week controlled, split-face study in which 2% NAG reduced the appearance of facial hyperpigmentation. It also describes greater improvement with a combination containing 2% NAG and 4% niacinamide.
